 he Town of Tuxedo's contracted waste removal service picks up garbage curbside weekly on Monday and Thursday. Pickup begins at 6:00 AM so ensure that your cans are on the curb prior to that time. What can be recycled?
o GLASS - we accept clear, green, and brown glass. DO NOT recycle dishes, light bulbs, drinking glasses, pyrex, ceramics or window glass.
o CANS - this includes aluminum, tin, and bi-metal cans. DO NOT recycle foil trays, scrap aluminum, or aluminum foil.
o PLASTICS - this includes #1 through #7 plastics. (plastics are marked on the bottom of the container in a triangle made of arrows-indicated in the arrows would be a #1 through #7 or marked with the initials PET or HDPE)
o NEWSPAPER - included with the recycling of newspaper would be any glossy print, junk mail, magazines, phone books, office/copy paper. Cardboard is acceptable. DO NOT recycle any cartons which have a foil layer. Do not include any Styrofoam.
Please DO NOT over fill any containers – The material will fall out while we are servicing or will be blown around your neighborhood. We cannot be responsible if over loaded.
In addition to the above, DO NOT recycle food waste, food containers, toner cartridges, clothing or yard waste.
Bulk Item Pickup Bulk item pickup is provided by appointment only. Please call IWS at 845-572-3300 to schedule a pick up . Items may include furniture, appliances, carpeting, and dried paint cans. DO NOT place home improvement or remodeling waste (drywall, sheetrock, lumber, piping, plaster, and concrete waste are NOT eligible) for bulk pickup. Yard Waste drop-off Yard waste (leaves, brush, grass, compost, yard debris) may be bagged in brown paper bags supplied by the Building Dept. at Town Hall for curb side pick up by the Town of Tuxedo Highway Department. This service is free of charge for town residents. Only organic matter will be accepted. Ensure that your yard waste is free of other materials. Free Mulch Free Mulch is available for residents. (proof of residency required). No contractor trucks allowed. Personel vehicle must be used. Hours are Monday-Friday 7 AM - 6 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 3 PM. Closed Sundays and Holidays. The Organic Mulch Facility is located at 984 Long meadow road. Questions call the Town Supervisor's office at 845-351-2265. Leaf and Yard Waste Pick Up Leaves will be picked up in the months of October until the first week of December. You must rake your leaves into paper bags, which are available for pickup at the Town Hall (351-4421) during the pickup times.
