State Environmental Quality Review Process Hearing - July 31st

Dear residents:
As you may know, the Town Board has started the required State Environmental Quality Review process, known as SEQRA, related to the proposed Sterling Forest Resort and Casino project.  Environmental consultants hired by the town to review the project have prepared a “Draft Scoping Document” that identifies potential  impacts that may be related to the project which would require mitigation measures before the project can be approved. You can read the detailed  document on our website.
On Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m., the Town will hold a public hearing at George Grant Mason Elementary School, 11 Hillside Avenue in Tuxedo. The purpose of this meeting is to allow you to share your input about the document and any further  areas you think should be studied as part of the SEQRA review. Although many of your ideas have already been included in the Draft Scoping Document thanks to your emails, letters and comments at previous public meetings, Thursday’s meeting will provide the Town Board and our consultants an additional opportunity to hear from you.
I encourage you to attend Thursday’s meetings and share your thoughts. If you are unable to attend, you can submit your suggestions in writing addressed to the Town Clerk, no later than 3 p.m. on August 4. Please note that comments at the meeting are limited to three minutes so that all have an opportunity to be heard.

Thank you, and we look forward to your input.
Supervisor Mike Rost
